The Angry Brothers Bid a very sad good bye to Mistress Rhonda of BizzareTV

Greetings Faithful Followers,

This is one of the hardest entries for the blog that I have ever had to write I found out on tuesday that Rhonda Baffes aka Mistress Rhonda owner and operator of the BizarreTV channel on roku had lost her battle with cancer and passed away on Friday the 12th. I am still reeling from the news, this is the first day that i can even attempt to do this blog post without breaking down. I have read so many wonderful tributes to Mistress Rhonda and as a horror host and a supporter of the channel from  almost the outset I wanted the Angry Brothers voices to be among the praises and tributes to a true friend to horror hosts everywhere weather they knew it or not. So for a moment let me slip out of character and relate this as my alter ego Les Raub.

I concieved the Angry Brothers in Aug/Sept of 2011 experimenting with various concepts for the characters (sorcerers, serial killers, demon hunters etc) after spit-balling these with my co creator and partner and my twin brother Lane we arrived at the final incarnation of the Angry Brothers as 2 undead monks in a dilapidated monastery hidden in Omaha Nebraska. Our Debut on Nebraska public access tv was Oct 29, 2011 the episode starred myself and Ash (Samantha Gunia). The episode was received very well and we received a lot of positive response. Our decision  to go to public access was as an homage to a local tv horror host and to combat the impersonator that we felt was doing a great disservice to the legacy and character, that is a story for another day.

Fast forward to the fall of 2014 I had purchased a roku streaming box as a way of fighting the high cost of cable tv and to provide entertainment choices for the family; I stumbled on a list of private channels for the roku including bizarretv after joining and watching some of the programming i reached out to mistress Rhonda about getting some of our full length episodes on the channel. It was a match made in heaven. Rhonda was always kind and accommodating with allowing me to send in hard copies of the episodes rather than dropboxing them because it never worked for me anyway.
Even tho Mistress Rhonda and myself did not have many voice conversations I always felt close to her from her FaceBook posts when she was having troubles either with her health or problems with the channel and would promote BTV whenever possible. I espcially loved the group movie showings on facebook when we did the group chats it was always fun to make a weird or off color comment to see if we fluster Mistress Rhonda (Right Chris M ??)  .

Rhonda was truly a kindred spirit to anyone who called themselves a horror host , she did so much to keep the genre relevant in much the same way count gore did for the internet . Providing myself, Uncle Edward, Oliver's twisted late nite bargain basement stoner friendly freak show,  and many other hosts to be seen by a larger audience. I listened to Angels Asylum when they interviewed Rhonda and I was amazed about how soft spoken she was but also how passionate she was about horror hosting and helping hosts get their shows to a broader audience. I have helped many horror hosts get their shows going either thru promotion or providing technical advice on dealing with public access program directors I did that as a way of paying back rhonda for the help and support she gave me when i contacted her. Forward to today the news she has left this world even though I am 1000% sure she is in a far better place hanging out with Lon, Vincent, Bela and the other giants of horror hearing some kick ass stories and having the time of her afterlife, the rest of us will have to carry on and keep the faith even if BTV goes away as a tribute to our Mistress Rhonda.
It is getting very hard to type this because of the tears and i dont want do too many typos thank god for spell check let me leave my fellow horror hosts with this.. if you have the opportunity to help a fledgling horror host with support, advice, or any wisdom you can provide back them to the hilt do it as a tribute to the friend we just lost.

Another Con is in the Bag Our Review of Anime Nebraskon 2017

Greetings Faithful Followers,

With the Halloween season ending and the Christmas season barreling at us like a runaway freight train, your humble long suffering narrator me Brother Jack and My perpetually pickled muscle-head sibling ,,,,yes Brother James have been hanging out in that holiday no mans land called you guessed it the thanksgiving season. In Omaha it is an widely accepted tradition that immediately on the heels of Halloween and before Thanksgiving we have the Miracle that is Anime Nebraskon 2017, and I will explain the "miracle" remark in the paragraphs to come.

First of all many of you know that i have covered the anime nebraskon conventions since the fall of 2012 so about 5 years roughly, myself,  Inferna, Lady Torrid and this year  Brother James have visited the cons, the vendors walked about meeting and interviewing cosplayers to bring you our friends, fans and faithful followers the scoop on these events. What i notice primarily notice the events get more elaborate every year, the organizers bringer bigger, better and more well known celebs the vendors become more numerous and the costumes and outfits  worn by the various cosplayers get more elaborate as the photos below show.

 As you can see by the pictures the cosplayer yes that is me above..(handsome devil aren,t I ? ) the costumes were well thought out and well executed . We saw many diffrent anime, scifi, horror, and nerd universes represented at Anime Nebraskon 2017 so in that regard great job everyone.

Another great experience with the con was dealing with the cons Media Director Emily Knaub she was our inital contact this year for receiving our press passes and was prompt in getting them to us when we arrived. Great Job Emily. There really was no downside with the exception of parking I had to park almost a mile away on Saturday and Sunday and I picked up a hell of a case of con crud that hung around till Thursday (google it, it is a real thing...) but that is a problem the con cant solve that would involve a larger venue.. and i dont know of any place in omaha t
hat could support the attendance this con brings in every year. With all that being said a big kudos to the staff and management of Anime Nebraskon 2017 well done and we hope to see everyone next year. A Victory and a setback and why we love ROKU

Greetings Faithful follwers,

It's been a crazy month here at the monastery of mayhem for your old pal Brother Jack, some upheaval in the employment and financial areas also a set back on the show front we lost a gig more on that in a bit but first the good news. Our great partners on the roku streaming box have done so much to help promote us Nationally and to spread the fame of the angry brothers from coast to coast and beyond for a active horror host the value of the roku platform cannot be underestimated the popularity of this format lies in its abundance of channels covering just about any genre of films or enternaiment you could want from the mundane to the super exotic and everything in between Our friends at INC (independant Network Channel ) were gracious enough to make this fantastic promo for us to hearld the Angry Brothers Omaha Shock O  Rama coming to INC we hope that you enjoy it.

Ok as I stated early we did have a small setback we were removed from a gig against our will where I could rail about the unfairness of this and how we were removed from this by the organizers for not clearing a previous blog post with them and other reasons we are not going to talk about that or that organization, we do wish them well in their future endeavors but we will not cover any of their future events.  

So with that being said Faithful Followers lets all strive to have a wickedly fun Halloween season and lets keep America on top Watch Horror Hosts Y'all.

A Look Back...

Greetings Faithful Followers,

It has been a while since I have done a blog post, a lot has happened The tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent death of one of the bombers and capture of the other. As always our thoughts and prayers are with the victims the injured and their families. We have lost many celebrities over the last 30-45 days, these Celebs include, Annette Funicello, Jonathan Winters & Roger Ebert just to name a few. We Have bid farewell to our dear friend Dr Mel Praxis (not deceased but deciding to get out of the horror host game) we wish him well in all his endeavors and we will be touching base with him for an update.

  Also we have seen the Big Horrorhound  Weekend convention come and go. Have read a lot of great stories of the goings on at this from other sources including Svengoolie, and the Terror beyond the daves blog. 

We did wish to extend our congrats to Svengoolie and Count Gore De Vol on their winning of the Rondo Awards for Best active Horror host (Sven) and Best Monster Kid (Count Gore) old brother Jack will have to keep punching ... maybe next year.  

On a somewhat lighter note, the weather is warming up, things are becoming green again, the smell of spring in the air. With those positive inputs from the universe at large I do feel a renewal of spirit and of creativity and the drive to continue bringing our fans and views the best possible shows myself and my crew  can produce in spite of the efforts and comments of those who would try to stop us. We have just finished episode # 60 of the show and episode 5 of our movie review program Movie Night Live from the Monastery of Mayhem. The Blogtalk show will be returning after a small hiatus. The numbers I am getting on listeners from blogtalk have been very encouraging and am looking forward to bringing you all more and even better guests.

Another Sad Goodbye!
